Appointments

bullet

When possible, you should schedule an appointment to have your child seen at the clinic. That allows us to see your child on time, to prepare his/her chart and organize all the medical information necessary for an optimal visit, and allows a better service to the other patients as well.

bullet

For urgent appointments, please call the office. Your child will be seen the same day for ill visits, most of the time. Please call as early as possible in the day to arrange an appointment.

bullet

Our patients are seen by appointment, although "walk-ins" will also be seen as scheduling and circumstances permit.

bullet

Appointments are given according to medical need and emergencies are usually seen immediately. The duration of the visit varies depending on the needs of the patient and family. Occasionally, patients will be seen out of order due to the severity of their illness.

bullet

You may wish to see the same medical provider each visit, (doctor or nurse practitioner),- the choice is yours.

bullet

It is important for you to keep your appointment, and you are responsible for it. Several months each year, our appointment lists are completely booked, especially for well-care and physical examinations around school season, so we wouldn’t be able to supply you with another appointment, at a convenient time for you, if you missed the one you had.

bullet

If you are unable to honor your appointment, please let us know 24 hours in advance, each time you need to cancel an appointment. We can probably offer that time to another child.

bullet

It is our policy to call you up 24 hours before, to friendly remind you of your appointment. Please notify us each time your phone number is changed.

bullet

Before you leave our facilities, take a few minutes at the front desk to schedule your next appointment.

                After Hours

bullet

If your child has a potentially life-threatening problem, please call 911.

bullet

Otherwise, if you call our office after hours, you will reach our answering service and they will notify the doctor to help you by phone.

bullet

The pediatrician on call can be contacted immediately through the service if necessary. Please try as much as possible to call us during office hours with medical questions or for medical advice, and use After Hours calls for Urgent or Emergency medical advice.

bullet

If we have not returned your call within 30 minutes, please call again. When the office is closed and your child needs to be seen, you will then be referred to the Emergency Room to be diagnosed and treated by the emergency care physician. Our practice physician will be available to the ER physician for consultation.

bullet

Patients who have been seen in the Emergency Room or have received phone advice after hours for an acute illness must have a follow-up visit in our office the following day to assure continuity of care.

bullet

If your child needs to be admitted, we will provide medical care during your child's stay in the hospital.

bullet

Please do not call after hours for medication refills, new prescriptions (including antibiotics), or to request appointments.
